Pet Portraits Image Guidelines
The most important part of your order, crucial to the quality of the final pet portrait, is the quality of the image you upload. Let's review the following tips and guidelines to make sure yours is just right:
Take a photo or choose an existing photo that is taken in daylight or in a brightly lit room.
Use a smartphone or high quality camera
Ensure the whole face & neck is visible and not in shadows.
Avoid overly filtered photos to ensure we correctly capture your pet's coloring.
Please note: collars, leashes, bows, hats, and other cute outfits will be illustrated in your final portrait. In some cases we are able to remove collars, tags and leashes (you can make a note of that in the message box when filling out a form), but your pet should look exactly how you want them to look in the photo as you want them to look in the portrait.
Good Photo Example
Tips for choosing a great reference photo:
Well-lit: Natural lighting or bright, even lighting helps me see details clearly.
High resolution: The clearer the image, the more accurate the portrait!
In focus: No blurriness—sharp details make all the difference.
Face visible: Make sure the subject’s full face is clearly shown and not obscured.
True-to-life colors: Avoid strong filters or heavy edits.
Personality shines: A photo that captures the subject’s natural expression or mood works best!
Bad Photo Example
Avoid these common issues:
Dark or overexposed lighting: Makes it difficult to see facial features and coloring.
Heavy filters or color edits: These distort natural features and tones.
Far away: Try to avoid photos where the subject is tiny.
Bad Photo Example 2
Avoid these common issues:
Blurry or low-resolution: Hard to capture detail from unclear images.
Obstructed face: Sunglasses, hats, hands, or other objects blocking the face.
